Monday’s child…

by Colin McNaughton…
Monday’s child is red and spotty
Tuesday’s child won’t use the potty
Wednesday’s child won’t go to bed
Thursday’s child will not be fed
Friday’s child breaks all his toys
Saturday’s child makes an awful noise
And the child that is born on the seventh day
Is a pain in the neck, like the rest, ok!

I thought I’d share this little ditty which I came across in the Hutchinson Treasury of Children’s Poetry.  (Jim-Jam is Monday’s child… perhaps this explains the outbreak he had the other week!)

I happened upon this copy as good as new in a second hand book shop and have just spent an hour flicking through it.  I think it’s a a great buy, full of lovely illustrations and containing a very wide range of poems, from traditional nursery rhymes and classics to some modern ones that I’d not heard before.   (Linky here if you’re interested)

About Susan Flockhart

Bonsai lady-geek and blogger. I can hardly recall what I used to blog about pre-microbes, but these days I generally ramble about motherhood, nonsense and whatever's going on the world of tiny people
